Beth McKee Elliott – Haven Movement Company, Small Plates Choreography Festival

Beth McKee Elliott, Creator and Director of Small Plates Choreography Festival and Haven Movement Company, is a lifelong dancer, choreographer, artist, and dance photographer, and holds an MFA in Dance from the University of Hawai‘i at Manoa (UHM). She is a Certified Movement Analyst (CMA), a Master Somatic Movement Educator and Therapist (MSME/T) and an Energy Coach. She has studied, taught, performed, choreographed, and presented dance all over the United States.

Beth has developed an extensive repertoire of enduring, iconic works and a process for rapid movement invention she calls Mosaic choreography. She has been recognized for excellence in choreography by Regional Dance America, having been selected twice as a Project Tier choreographer. She received the Carl Wolz Award for Choreography while attending UHM.

Beth is eternally dedicated to creativity and to the art of choreography, and has passionately devoted herself to creating opportunities for dancers and dance makers to present their creative work by producing events that showcase the art of movement expression. She created the Small Plates Choreography Festival in 2012 to serve this mission and The Dance Maker Podcast in 2020. She is also the creator and director of Haven Movement Company, an artist collective she formed in 2016 alongside Michele Painter and Sarah Renny, and Beth Elliott Dance Group, which operated from 1998-2018.

Beth is a crochet designer and instructor, and the owner/creator of Betty McKnit®. She resides and creates on the Outer Banks of North Carolina, where she integrates her passion for movement with her unique approach to Somatic Crochet.
