Lauren Auyeung is an emerging choreographer who intends to move to New York City in August of 2019. She is completing her senior year at Princeton University, where she studies dance, architecture, and urban studies. Lauren is interested in investigating the vocabularies, politics, and narratives of hip-hop dance culture and abstracting them into their rawest forms in new contexts. After graduating, she hopes to continue creating works that articulate physical understandings of the human body through an intricate movement language. She seeks to interrogate the undiscovered aspects of human experience through the development of aesthetically nuanced and politically mindful work. Lauren ultimately intends to impact in the concert dance world by including the vocabularies, stories, and bodies of dancers from underrepresented communities in respectful and culturally eloquent ways.
