Lawanda Raines

Lawanda Raines earned her BFA in Dance and Choreography from the Virginian Commonwealth University in May 2000. Ms Raines received her MFA in Dance and Creative Process from St Mary’s College in San Francisco with a Certificate in Dance Production in 2016. Her choreographic journey includes Children of Eden (Manchester High School), Latin Ballet of VA (2004- 2014), Langston Is My Man (African American Repertory Company and RVA Dance Collective. Adjudicated works have been presented at the Black College Dance Exchange, Starr Foster’s Choreographer Showcase and this year’s Richmond Dance Festival. She is trained in many classic techniques of Modern, Latin Jazz, Musical Theatre, Hip Hop, Contemporary, African Carribean, Latin Social Dance, Flamenco, and stage fighting. In addition, LaWanda works as a teaching artists to ages K through 12 developing and executing arts integrated curriculum.
