Kiera Bono – Independent Dance Artist

Kiera Bono is based in Queens, NY. She earned a B.A. in Philosophy and The Arts from The New School and an M.A. in Performance Studies from New York University. Her choreography and curation often reside in the ephemeral spaces of everyday life, but they have also been presented at venues including New Women Space, Silent Barn, Green Space, Gowanus Loft, Chez Bushwick, and 776 Lorimer Street, home to 133 Design Collective. A 2017 artist-in-residence at the Catwalk Institute, Bono is working on an ongoing interdisciplinary project called Assimilationist Agita, which explores food, queerness, and diaspora through the lens of admission processes. Her performance practice involves consulting bodily archives of subject/object interaction, companion planting, and what Avery Gordon calls being “haunted in the name of a will to heal.”
