Jenna Eckenrod

Jenna Eckenrod (she/her) is a performer and interdisciplinary movement artist from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She is a current senior at Shenandoah University pursuing her B.F.A. in Dance with a double-minor in English and Professional & Technical Writing. In recent years, Jenna has trained with Mutual Dance Theater, Attack Theater, and American Dance Festival. She has traveled internationally to both Greece where she performed and studied in contact improvisation under the direction of Maurice Fraga, as well as Göteborg, Sweden where she danced at Balettakademien. Jenna has had the privilege to work with choreographers such as Mike Esperanza, Cat Cogliandro, Stevie Lamblin, Maleek Washington, and Ehizoje Azeke. She has been published in Avalon Literary Magazine and Pulp Media Journal for her writing. Most recently, Jenna debuted “Transport,” an original play written and directed by herself. As a creator, Jenna is artistically inclined to incorporate facets in writing and theater within her movement direction. She’s passionate about how humans empathize with dance and how movement can grasp the unspeakable feelings we experience.
