CHOREGRAPHER BIO
Evelyn Joy Hoelscher is an Austin-based dance artist, choreographer, and fitness instructor. She is the Founder & Artistic Director of Spaces of Fontana, a contemporary dance collaboration creating art rooted in hope. Established in 2016 in the heart of NYC, she relaunched Spaces of Fontana early 2024 with a sold out performance of BECOMING, a show journeying through the seasons of motherhood. A graduate of Texas A&M’s Dance Kinesiology program, she now serves as a Guest Artist and Co-Chair of the Performance Partner Program at TAMU’s School of Performance, Visualization, and Fine Arts. Evelyn has performed for over 10 NYC-based choreographers and presented work at 30+ contemporary festivals. Since 2022, Evelyn has been a choreographer for musicals at the Georgetown Palace Theater, working on shows like Cabaret, Cats and Sound of Music. Her choreography for both musicals and contemporary has garnered nominations, awards and grants. She regularly teaches to her Austin community contemporary and partnering workshops and is passionate about building community and connection through storytelling and movement.

Spaces of Fontana is a contemporary dance collaboration led by Evelyn Joy Hoelscher, creating movement rooted in hope, human connection, and shared experience. Founded in New York City in 2016 and relaunched in Austin in 2023, the company is dedicated to filling spaces with art that uplifts and inspires. In Texas, Spaces of Fontana has presented work at Dance Carousel, Ballet East’s SEASONS, and Round Rock Arts’ Imagine, and premiered its first evening-length work, BECOMING, to a sold-out audience. Through contemporary partnering, improvisation, and playful exploration, we seek to build community, invite reflection, and celebrate the resilience found in everyday human stories.
