Aliyah Banerjee is a classical Kathak dancer, having trained for over 17 years under her teachers in Delhi, India. In addition to training young dancers and performing, she also takes an avid interest in choreography, having showcased her works on platforms like the Battery Dance Festival and YoungArts. She and her team of live musicians, Drhuv Vishwanath (tabla), Sidhant Pandit (flute), and Shruti Shukla (vocals), initially started performing at UT Austin, where they are all students, and are now developing works which highlight the beauty of Indian classical dance with live Hindustani classical music.
Gandharva will be performing “Thumri” at Small Plates Austin, 2024.
