Margaret Allen is a lover of languages, movement, and being upside down. She graduated magna cum laude from VCU’s dance performance/choreography BFA program in 2011 with an award of excellence in choreography and a minor concentration in Spanish. Upon graduation, she ran away to join the circus and received her professional contemporary circus artist credentials through the two-year program at FLIC Scuola di Circo in Torino, Italy where she specialized in hand balancing and dance acrobatics. She has since traveled, performed, presented, and worked with various companies, renowned directors, and festivals throughout Spain, France, the Czech Republic, Guatemala, and a brief stint in the Netherlands. Stateside, she has performed with fusiondance, Nomadic Artist Productions, and K Dance in addition to achieving her 200 hour E-RYT Yoga Certification. She resides in Richmond where she teaches at The Hot Yoga Barre and is honored to have recently been selected as a lululemon ambassador. Ms. Allen works to blend her colorful experiences of dance, circus, and yoga into her own unique style, and lives by the motto, “when doubt presents itself, invert yourself.”
