Carlye Eckert is an artist based in New York who facilitates artistic, educational, & communal experiences based in the tradition of movement-based practices. Her work uses environment, food, and imagery to cultivate a range of ideas that create dialogues between audience and art.
Carlye’s work has been presented nationally at A-WOL and the West Linn Theater in Portland, OR; Garner Arts Center, Chapman Steamer Arts, The Ritz Theater in New York State’s Hudson Valley Region; Judson Memorial Church, Center for Performance Research, Triskelion, CAVE, CUNY, Dance New Amsterdam, West End Theater, Dixon Place, Location One, DUMBO Dance Festival, Green Space, The Peter Jay Sharp Theater at Lincoln Center, and The Juilliard School in New York City.
As a performer, Carlye has worked and collaborated with Tino Sehgal, Jonah Bokaer, Jack Ferver, Boris Charmatz/Musee de la Danse, Attic Projects, Esme Boyce Dance, Meghan Frederick Practice Project, Yara Travieso, The Equus Projects, Aszure Barton & Artists, and Keigwin+Company. Carlye is Rehearsal Director for Brian Brooks Moving Company, where she has been a performer since 2013.
Carlye works in dance & movement education. She has held positions at Rutgers University Mason Gross School of the Arts, Juilliard Global, ASAP!, and as the Educational Outreach Director for Dance Parade NY. Carlye teaches Kundalini yoga and meditation in Newburgh, NY.
Carlye was co-founder & co-director of the free performance series, STUFFED: Dinner + Dance (2011-2021) at Judson Memorial Church in NYC. She is a founding member of Chapman Steamer Arts, a residency and performance space in Newburgh. NY
