Shannon Yamamoto – Haven Movement Company

Shannon Yamamoto has been dancing since the age of three and has studied under Queen Emma Ballet, School of the Honolulu Dance Theatre, and the Mid-Pacific School of the Arts (MPSA). She graduated from the MPSA Dance Certificate Program, with IB Diploma honors, in the spring of 2005. Ms. Yamamoto graduated with her Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Theater and Dance at the University of Hawai’i at Manoa in the spring of 2011. For eight semesters she had the honor of performing various works with the UH Dance Ensemble including solos choreographed by Doris Humphrey, Marius Petipa, and Lotte Goslar; as well as acting as rehearsal director for the school year 2008-2009. Shannon has performed in the MPSA version of A Chorus Line as Connie Wong, Hawai’i Opera Theater’s (HOT) South Pacific, and was featured as the role of Topsy in HOT’s The King and I. Ms. Yamamoto is blessed to be given opportunities to teach at various dance institutions not only in Hawaii, but also in Montana and New York City. She most recently received an Upside-Down Pilates teaching certificate for Beginning and Intermediate Level Pilates and is currently teaching at Queen Emma Ballet.
