Abbey Malec-Kenyon is a dancer and choreographer training as a junior apprentice with Urbanity Dance, a professional contemporary company in Boston, MA. After performing contemporary, modern, hip hop and other genres for years with local studios, Abbey began choreographing several years ago and plans to continue her exploration and creation of movement at the college-level. Abbey has been an invited dancer for contemporary pieces at several regional arts festivals and showcases. She has performed in scores of ensemble pieces and solos at varied venues—from the large, formal Providence Performing Arts Center to small, private shows at local nursing homes. In NYC, Pittsburgh, and Boston, Abbey has trained with Kat Wildish, Tokyo, Angelica Stiskin, Bradley Shelver, Alisha Captain, Karen Brown, Molly Long, Alexa Moffet, Thommie Retter, and Jenna Pollack. She has performed pieces by choreographed and taught by Mia Michaels, Amber Perkins, and Mike Baerga. Seeking out new experiences inspires Abbey’s growth as an artist and the evolution of her movement quality.
