What is it?
Well, first of all, it’s not a real word! That’s right, it’s a made-up word. In keeping with the culinary theme of Small Plates Choreography Festival, Mise en Dance pokes fun at the chef’s preparation process, known in the culinary world as mise en place. Mise en Dance just means preparation to dance – in other words, to choreograph!
Mise en Dance is an open, collaborative choreographic session where the audience observes and also influences the creation of a new dance work. The dance we are working on this winter at Mise en Dance will be performed at Small Plates Choreography Festival on March 31 and April 1 at Safe Harbors Lobby of the Ritz Theatre.
You can read more about Mise en Dance, follow the progress of the collaborative dance being created, and see videos of the work in progress at the Small Plates website.
